A lovely black laquered Tavern or Act of Parliment Clock by William Moon of London. The clock has an octagonal framed dial surrounded with gilt detail, polycrome decorations and a lovely “tobacco” stained (faded off-white) dial with steel blackened, counter balanced hands being driven by a two week duration five wheel train movement with an oval lead wieght and a threequarter second duration pendulum, all with a very original large winding crank key.
William Moon practiced from the 1760s to 1790s and while the case shows obvious clues to this age, the movement now powering this fine clock is of a later manufacture. No doubt due to the original being replaced due to wear and tear over the past two hundred and fifty years. Fully restored and guaranteed.
